Versar is seeking an Environmental Scientist who will support onsite services to Fort Huachuca for the Hazardous Materials and Hazardous Waste programs. Some support examples are implementing a Hazardous Materials Management Program (HMMP). The purpose of the HMMP is to integrate accountability for hazardous materials and reduce the acquisition, use, handling and disposal of HM and the generation of hazardous waste.
Typical tasks include, but are not limited to:

Develop, coordinate and implement environmental portion of installation-wide HM accountability and tracking procedures designated to provide accurate, real-time data required for environmental reporting.
Attend HMMP committee (or equivalent) meetings
Provide environmental input as appropriate;

Assist HMMP with establishing realistic, unit-specific and installation-level Authorized Use Lists (AULs),
Review and approve requests for changes to the AUL in coordination with the safety and industrial hygiene offices,
Coordinate with the LRC and the safety and industrial hygiene offices to identify HM, authorized users, and levels of storage per location.

Upon appointment, act as alternate EESOH-MIS administrator for the installation.
Provide assistance and technical support to shops in implementing HMMP procedures.
Provide technical support to shop-level EESOH-MIS users as needed.

Requirements:

A minimum of a bachelor's degree in engineering, physical science, environmental science, or biology is required.

Desired Qualifications:

A positive would be if the candidate possesses the following certificates prior to start:

RCRA competency training (40 CFR 264.16, 40 CFR 265.6 and applicable Arizona Administrative Codes) (initial and annual 8-hour refresher training);
DOT Hazardous Materials Shipper, training (49 CFR 173) (initial and refresher training);
OSHA HAZWOPER training [29 CFR 1910.120(e)(3)(ii)] (24-hour initial and annual refresher training);
OSHA 30-Hour General Industry Training;
P2/EMS courses;
EESOH-MIS Training;
HMMP WENV 222 - Hazardous Material Management Process Course.
