HOW YOU WILL IMPACT OUR MISSION The Field Research Assistant performs all job assignments with a positive attitude and supports San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance's mission and vision of saving species worldwide by uniting our expertise in animal care and conservation science with our dedication to inspiring passion for wildlife and leading the fight against extinction. The Research Assistant is responsible for assisting with conservation breeding and husbandry at the Keauhou Bird Conservation Center in Hawaii, and reports to the Senior Research Coordinator. WHAT YOU WILL DO * Maintain aviaries, facilities, equipment, and grounds * Prepare and provision food * Clean and maintain aviaries * Focus on helping produce the most behaviorally competent birds in preparation for birds to thrive in the wild after release * Observe and record reproductive and social behaviors * Collect data in a detailed and accurate manner * Other duties as assigned WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR? San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance is seeking an individual who is passionate about preparing endangered Hawaiian birds to exhibit behaviors essential for high survival and reproduction in the wild. Candidates must be willing and available to work any seven days of the week, particularly throughout the spring and summer, and outside under various weather conditions.
