American Conservation Experience (ACE) is a national non-profit conservation corps dedicated to providing career development and outdoor experiential learning opportunities to young adults interested in careers related to environmental conservation. The ACE AmeriCorps ATL program engages and motivates participants seeking to broaden their leadership skills and expand professional knowledge in the field of conservation.

AmeriCorps Team Leader (ATL) - ACE Conservation Crew - Southwest Arizona

Start Date: August 10th, 2021

Summary:

ACE is seeking an AmeriCorps Team Leader (ATL) Corps Members committed to working 12 weeks (450 hours) on outdoor conservation projects.

Location:

Our office and most of our member housing is located in Flagstaff, AZ. Many projects will include spending up to two months working and living locations further away from Flagstaff.

Compensation and Benefits:
  • ATL Members receive a $600 bi-weekly living stipend
  • 3 meals per day while on project (approximately 16 days/month)
  • Free housing accommodation and use of a tent throughout your term
  • Transportation to and from worksites
  • Upon successful completion of a full term, eligible AmeriCorps Members receive an Education Award of $1,678.57 (for 450 hours/12 weeks).


Position Description:

As a member of ACE crew, ATL's assist Crew Leaders in the logistics and administration of teams of Conservation Corps members performing environmental conservation and restoration projects throughout the Southwest United States. ATL's provide leadership to Corps members, training in technical skills and lead partial teams of Corps members. ATL's also may train Corps members in conservation work skills and outdoor living skills. Work projects are almost exclusively outdoors, involve 80 hours of strenuous physical labor in all weather conditions and climates, and may involve backcountry camping for several days at a time in remote wilderness locations.

Schedule:

ATL Corps Members typically work 10 hours per day for a total of 80 hours in a 2 week pay period. While working, Corps Members camp in wilderness areas close to their work site. Between work projects Corps Members will generally spend their off days at provided housing in Flagstaff, but they may spend off days in other locations during projects further away from Flagstaff. The typical schedules are working 8 days in a row followed by 6 days off OR working 4 days in a row followed by 3 days off, but this can vary based on projects and other factors.
