Looking for an opportunity to make an impact?

Leidos is seeking entry-level environmental engineers, geologists, or scientists to support environmental projects at multiple locations in the United States.

The successful candidate will support CERCLA and RCRA environmental projects, including investigations, remediation, and monitoring at government and commercial sites within the CONUS, working with diverse project teams and Senior Scientists. Anticipated task activities will include, but are not limited to: site surveys and inspections, soil sampling, surface water and sediment sampling, soil and building air sampling, groundwater sampling, groundwater monitoring well installation/abandonment, and support to remediation system design/construction/maintenance.

Candidates will conduct scientific analyses of environmental data resulting from field operations, including development of maps, figures, tables, and written materials describing investigation data and results of data analyses. Based on their background and demonstrated skill areas, candidates may support development of numerical models of geologic media, conduct statistical analyses of environmental data, perform chemistry validation of analytical data, and/or manipulate and maintain environmental datasets for project team use. Candidates will also support the preparation of technical work plans and reports such as Remedial Investigation Reports and Feasibility Studies.

The successful candidate must be willing to travel to work locations. This position may require up to 75% travel, dependent upon project needs. Candidates will be required to pass background checks to obtain access to, and conduct work on, U.S. Government installations. Candidates must have, or be able to obtain shortly after hire, OSHA 1910.120 hazardous waste worker certification (40-hour HAZWOPER) and OSHA occupational physical exam and medical clearance allowing performance of field work at hazardous waste sites.

Required Education & Experience:
  • Bachelors degree in Engineering, Geology, Chemistry or related Science and 0-2 yrs experience.

Required Skills:
  • Ability to work in outdoor environments during all seasons of the year.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Attention to detail and ability to conduct work in accordance with written plans and procedures.


Desired Skills:
  • Proficiency in MS Office tools (Excel, Word, Outlook, Project, PowerPoint).
  • Prior environmental sampling experience or conducting scientific investigations in the field.
  • Prior completion of OSHA 1910.120 hazardous waste worker certification (40-hour HAZWOPER).
  • Proficiency in field documentation, technical report writing, and analysis skills.
  • Prior experience with environmental media modeling (e.g. groundwater or surface water).
  • Knowledge of remediation technologies and remediation systems.
