Performs horticultural/gardening tasks assisting with Ethnobiologic field research.

Performs horticultural/gardening tasks in the Cherokee Nation (CN) Seedbank Garden/Native Plant site under the supervisor of the Program Manager. Assisting the Program Manager with Ethnobiologic field research. Assists the Program Manager in packaging seeds/plant products, filling orders, tracking orders, and providing support for the CN annual Seedbank seed distribution. Assists the Program Manager in CN Ethnobiology presentations. As directed, assists the Program Manager in misc. Natural resource conservation preservation efforts on CN Tribal and affiliated lands/properties. Other duties may be assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

No supervisory responsibility.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT

One-year certificate from college or technical school in Biology, Botany, Natural Resources Conservation, Horticulture, or closely related field is preferred; or one and one-half (1 ½) years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT

An additional one (1) year of experience in a related field.

COMPUTER SKILLS

To perform this job successfully, an individual should know Internet software and Word Processing software.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Must possess a valid driver's license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets requirements for Cherokee Nation underwriting rating.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

The employee must not be and will not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or by the General Services Administration (GSA) or listed on the OIG's Cumulative Sanction Report, or the GSA's List of Excluded Providers, or listed on the OIG's List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE). Basic knowledge of accepted horticultural practices.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to taste or smell. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus.
