Environmental Fate Metabolism Scientist
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary responsibilities of this role, Environmental Fate Metabolism Scientist, are to:
- Act as GLP study director or principal investigator in Environmental Safety (EnSa) group for all environmental fate and plant metabolism studies, including non-guideline investigative studies;
- Solve day to day problems in study conduct thereby ensuring that studies progress to required deadlines;
- Assess and forecast accurately the time and resources needed to complete the assigned studies and projects;
- Write, review and develop improvements in study protocols that will satisfactorily achieve specific regulatory and business objectives;
- Evaluate new techniques and procedures in the area of agrochemical testing;
- Make recommendations as to their adoption into Environmental Safety (EnSa) programs as appropriate;
- Plan and direct the work of one or more scientists/technicians performing a variety of complex tasks;
- Coordinate and review work of external contractors. Provide guidance and support to other study participants taking overall responsibility for successful completion of the study;
- Evaluate data and prepare reports for submission to regulatory authorities ensuring that the study meets the required business objective;
- Tailor the report presentation to address a specific regulatory concern;
- Ensure that emerging technical information is shared with other functions in EnSa and Research and Development (R&D);
- Be an active participant in the EnSa Technical Team process for area of expertise;
- Represent the Environmental Safety function internally within BCS or represent BCS externally at industry meetings or at discussions with regulatory agencies;
- Ensure that all GLP regulations are communicated to study participants and are strictly observed.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science with at least seven years of relevant experience or Master of Science with at least five years of relevant experience or Ph.D. with at least three years of relevant experience;
- Ability to work independently;
- Excellent organization skills with regard to the collection, presentation and archive of experimental data;
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal;
- Ability to train less experienced scientists, mentor and develop junior staff;
- Promote team-based approaches to BCS development programs.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Organic chemistry background with agrochemical plant metabolism experience.
