Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated Research Associate to join our Research & Development Division Discovery Biology group in South San Francisco, CA. This is an exciting opportunity to explore the cutting-edge pharmaceutical science and technologies, collaborate with scientists with diverse research background, and contribute directly to drug discovery activities. The successful candidate will have to demonstrate strong scientific curiosity, motivation to learn, ability to multi-task, and team-oriented mentality. In addition, the candidate should possess excellent analytical, organizational and communication skills. The primary responsibilities will include planning and execution of experiments for drug target identification and validation, developing appropriate assays or models to support compound screening and optimization, and presenting experimental data at internal and external scientific meetings.
Required Education, Experience, and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in biological sciences with 1-3 years of relevant lab experience
- Hands-on experience with in vitro assays which involve cell culture, cell-based experiments, DNA/RNA/protein preparation and analysis, and other biochemical techniques.
- Self-motivated. Able to work independently with limited supervision.
- A good team player. Able to work collaboratively with other colleagues and support different projects as needed.
- Highly organized and attentive to details. Maintains laboratory notebook in a complete, consistent, and concise manner in accordance with company intellectual property policies and practices.
- Adherence to good health and safety practices and compliance with applicable EH&S safety rules.
- Good interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in using common data analysis and visualization software such as Excel and GraphPad Prism.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Knowledge and experience in metabolic disease.
- Experience with Microscopy/immunohistochemistry is a plus
