Tectonic is currently seeking a full-time Environmental Scientist to work on various projects based out of our Orange County, NY Environmental Group. This is a great opportunity for continued professional growth and development in the A/E/C industry!


Wetland delineations, threatened and endangered species studies;
Perform environmental analysis of data, studies and research, and prepare permit applications;
Federal NEPA, State Environmental Review, and review of local codes and regulations as they apply to projects;
Conduct preliminary research, regulatory consultation, and performance of project specific investigations and field services, including performing site visits for data and sample collection;
Compiling project documentation, and assisting with monitoring project schedules and budgets;
Assisting project management on all phases of the project, including project commencement, organization, tracking, project work, invoicing, and deliverables, including collaborating with project teams to coordinate the process of providing high quality deliverables to our clients;
Budget and time monitoring;
Retain, direct and coordinate sub-consultants proposals, work phase, report/work products, and budget, and issuance of purchase orders
All related duties as assigned.


0-6 years of directly related experience;
BS Degree in Environmental Science or closely related science required;
Studies must include core coursework on ecological systems, biology of trees, plants and animals (min.18 credits);prefer some basic college coursework with soils; equivalent experience would also be considered;
Strong organizational and time management skills;
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.);
Willing to work and travel throughout NYC and surrounding metro area, as well as throughout NYS as required.


While performing the essential functions of this position, the employee is frequently required to move around the job site and inspect, observe, move, operate, and/or transport documents, materials and/or field-testing equipment relevant to the job and communicate about same. Such operable equipment includes, but is not limited to, peristaltic sampling pumps, photoionization detectors, battery packs, and augering instruments. The employee is also regularly required to traverse the job-site while recording information and must frequently position themselves appropriately to gain access to necessary testing materials and equipment and to perform tests near wells and on the ground. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. The employee is constantly working in outdoor weather conditions, including exposure to extreme heat, extreme cold, biological hazards conditions and sometimes working in the office environment. The employee will also communicate with colleagues, supervisors and clients both orally and in writing through Corporate communication systems. The employee must also occasionally operate a computer and other related office machinery, such as printers, and fax machines. This position also requires the frequent operation of a motor-vehicle, which sometimes may require remaining stationary for extended periods of time.
