Job description: Lab Tech -1 Part-Time

Enologix has two (2) positions open. Enologix has a full-time and part-time employment opportunity for a Laboratory Technician - with 2+ years laboratory experience and university degree in biology, chemistry, or earth sciences. We are seeking an individual with the passion for performing precise work in an analytical chemistry laboratory during the 2021 harvest season (August through November) or full-time. This is an entry-level position performing wet chemical analysis of red grapes, fermentations and wines in a production environment with tight turnaround times to deliver to luxury wine producers. Candidates must be hard working, versatile, precise, and flexible individuals who are able to follow written SOPs, methods, company policies, and oral instructions. Knowledge of wine is not a requirement.

Duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Prepare grape, fermentation, drain, press, and wine samples
  • Production of highly precise analytical wet chemical laboratory measurements
  • Calibration & preventative maintenance of lab equipment
  • Make reagents & standards
  • Chemical handling
  • Analysis of grape and fermentation samples
  • Data entry and filing
  • Start up and shut down of laboratory
  • Cleaning of laboratory areas, items and equipment

Enologix is open and available to our clients everyday during the harvest period. Lab Technicians will work five days a week however, the position requires the ability and willingness to work six days a week and overtime when necessary. Candidates must be able to work and problem solve independently and as part of a team, and agreeable to performing tasks outside the scope of the job during slow periods.

Other qualifications include but are not limited to:
  • Bachelor's degree preferably in a scientific area such as chemistry, biology, etc. If the bachelor's degree is in a non-science area then some other science or technical related work should be included such as a college course, previous work experience, etc.
  • Ability to perform high precision analytical chemistry work, including micro pipetting and volumetric dilutions
  • Preferably 2+ years experience in a busy production or laboratory environment. Other relatable experience will be considered
  • Good computer skills such as use of MS Office and Filemaker Pro
  • ArcGIS experience a plus
  • R programming experience a plus
  • Knowledge of or the ability to use both PC and Mac
  • Excellent verbal communication skills & above-average reasoning ability
  • Commitment to excellence and high standards
  • Must be open to continual training and adjustments to techniques
  • Work well under pressure
  • Must have a positive attitude and enthusiasm when dealing with clients, co-workers, supervisors, and winemakers
  • Willingness to respond to changing priorities with eagerness
  • Ability to lift 45 pounds
  • Stand for long periods of time
