Do you want to work for an excellent, global company that values the environment?Is a positive, high-energy workplace with an emphasis on core values and culture appealing to you?Our client, a paint manufacturing company located near O'Hare in the near Northwest suburbs of Chicago is hiring an experienced Environmental Health and Safety Manager to join their team.
Position OverviewAdminister Environmental, Health and Safety and programs for the US facilities. Ensure compliance to US regulations and client's corporate policies with respect to EHS. Help to increase awareness of EHS concerns and drive engagement in EHS initiatives at both US sites and supports global sustainability strategy through local initiatives focusing on people, products, and operations.
Environmental: o Stay current on changes to EPA/ DOT compliance requirements.o Create programs for regulatory compliance. Review and revise as needed.o Provide training programs appropriate to job function for all employees.o Record keeping per requirements in various facility permits, training and incident reports.o Oversee required regulatory reporting.o Sustainability: Lead contact for client US sustainability reporting. Look for ways to reduce or recycle waste from the sites. Assist in implementation of sustainability initiatives.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Work experience in the coatings industry or relevant experience with EHS compliance in a related chemical industry.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to negotiate with internal departments.
  • Strong analytical and decision making capability within a team-oriented environment is highly desired.
  • To recognize that health and safety is a responsibility of every employee and to take reasonable care of oneself and others and to comply with client Health and Safety policy and procedures/rules that apply to the role.

Physical Requirements
  • Office environment: ability to seat for potential prolonged periods of time
  • Employee may be exposed occasionally to excessive noise, moving machinery, marked changes in temperature and/or humidity.
  • Employee may also be exposed occasionally to dust, fumes, gases, chemicals.
  • Some travel (approximately 10%) will be required to California plant.
