Director / Senior Director, Head of Structural Biology and Protein Chemistry at Revolution Medicines

Revolution Medicines is a clinical-stage precision oncology company focused on developing novel targeted therapies to inhibit high-value frontier targets in RAS-addicted cancers. The company's R&D pipeline comprises RAS(ON) Inhibitors designed to suppress diverse oncogenic variants of RAS proteins, and RAS Companion Inhibitors for use in combination treatment strategies. As a new member of the Revolution Medicines team, you will join other outstanding scientists in a tireless commitment to patients with cancers harboring mutations in the RAS signaling pathway.

The Opportunity:

As the key leader of our Structural Biology team, you will:

Lead, mentor, coach, and expand the capabilities of a world class structural biology team.

Design and enable successful structural biology strategies across a portfolio of programs and projects.

Partner with interdisciplinary colleagues in chemical biology, computation and medicinal chemistry, biophysics and other functions to advance the RevMed research portfolio.

Play an instrumental part in the successful delivery of a range of anti-cancer drug candidates for frontier oncology targets.

Actively contribute to the strategic direction and capability build of the structural biology function.

Build strong working relationships with other functions within the company to maximize the impact of structural biology and improve operational efficiency.

Initiate external strategic collaborations to broaden the capabilities of the team to answer relevant scientific questions.

Enhance our operational efficiency & flexibility through the management of external chemistry CRO resources, continuous improvement activities and implementation of best practice by actively managing the budget for the structural biology and protein chemistry functions.

Advancing the RevMed Research Portfolio and helping build our scientific reputation through presentation/publication of project results in scientific meetings and peer-reviewed literature, as guided by RevMed publication policies, to build our scientific reputation.

Keep up to date on scientific advancements and new technology to enhance and drive the portfolio.

Required Experience, Skills, and Education:

Ph.D. degree with over 10 years' experience in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry alongside a strong track record of scientific innovation.

Demonstrable track record of delivering structures against challenging targets with a deep understanding of both hit and lead generation, structure-based drug design and lead optimization.

Proven track record of both scientific and people leadership across multi-disciplinary drug discovery teams including evidence of successful coaching, mentorship and development of both individuals and teams in order to build long-term organizational capability.

Recognized as an intellectual leader in structural biology with a track record of patents, publications, and project achievements.

Innovative team-player with high energy for our fast-paced environment.

Demonstrated ability to plan and achieve research goals as part of an interdisciplinary team.

Experience in leading and managing early discovery projects.

Knowledge of oncology therapeutic area and drug discovery.

Extensive working knowledge of modern structural biology for both structure-based drug design and structure function.

Experience in leading a protein science team.

Experience managing scientific collaborations and CRO outsourcing activities.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills to work with multiple interdepartmental teams.
