ICF offers a full range of services to assist clients who develop, promulgate, implement, and evaluate regulations and related environmental and energy programs. Our energy analysis team is at the forefront of preparing leading-edge climate change and air regulatory technical, policy, and economic analyses in support of our federal, state and local, and NGO clients. We perform state-of-the-art analysis of energy market and environmental policy issues using ICF's sophisticated modeling tools including ICF's Integrated Planning Model (IPM®).
Job Description:
To support our growth, we seek Energy Analysts to work in our Energy and International Development line of business. With more than 30 years of experience supporting the design, implementation, and improvement of federal and private sector programs, we support a wide range of clients at all levels of government and industry, including program offices across U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Department of Energy, and Department of Transportation, as well as state and local agencies, NGOs, and private-sector clients. The Energy Services team is composed of a multidisciplinary staff of policy analysts, economists, attorneys, business analysts, scientists, and engineers.
Energy Analysts contribute to the development of innovative, accurate, timely, and high-quality products and services, typically working on multiple projects with all levels of staff. They have the opportunity to apply their academic knowledge, gain exposure to major projects, interact with experts and clients in the field, while building content knowledge and consulting skills. Energy Analysts advance in our consulting practice or go on to outstanding graduate programs around the country.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collecting and analyzing data for power sector modeling projects (e.g., technology cost and performance characterizations, energy demand data, state and federal clean energy and environmental policies, emissions control technologies cost and performance)
- Developing, managing, manipulating and analyzing large datasets, including developing code and macros to process datasets
- Coordinating with other members of project teams throughout the company
- Preparing high quality written and electronic products
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Operations Research, Computer Science, Mathematics, Economics or Engineering, or related subjects, with a minimum GPA of 3.0
- Ability to demonstrate strong quantitative and/or modeling skills, specifically database management and data analysis skills
Preferred Skills/Experience:
- Knowledge of linear optimization and energy and environmental markets is an advantage
- Demonstrated quantitative and strong modeling skills
- Advanced Microsoft Office (Excel and Access) skills
- Strong interest in economics / finance and the energy industry
- Knowledge of Excel macro programming and other programming languages
- Strong research skills
Professional Skills:
- Strong analytical and organizational skills
- Ability to prioritize and work on multiple projects under strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent written and oral communications skills
- Works collaboratively with project team and client to achieve established goals.
