Northwest Farm Credit Services is in search of a Agricultural Industry Analyst to join our Learning and Development department in our Spokane, Washington Headquarters location. As a member-owned financial cooperative, we help business owners in agriculture, forestry and fisheries secure the financing they need to operate and grow, and the crop insurance they need to protect their livelihoods. Our customers are primarily located in Montana, Idaho, Oregon, Washington and Alaska. This full-time role reports to the VP-Research and Advising, and uses quantitative and qualitative research and analysis methods and experience to plan and produce industry-focused research and insights, in collaboration with Northwest FCS' industry teams and other stakeholders.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Facilitates ag industry teams focused on sharing knowledge and research to generate market insights for customers and employees.

Monitors agriculture economic trends, commodity markets, trade, policy, and the overall business environment for agriculture, forest products, and seafood industries.

Develops systems and processes to identify, analyze, and report key economic indicators.

Participates in planning and prioritization of economic- and industry-focused research initiatives.

Conducts industry-focused economic research with quantitative and qualitative data using statistical modeling, trend analysis, and key driver identification techniques.

Prepares and presents research findings for internal and external audiences, including live presentations, written reports, and infographics.

Collects financial information, designs, and analyzes Peer Financial Benchmarks for multiple industries to deliver insights for customers and employees.

Develops research proposals and manages research vendor projects and relationships.

Participates in interdepartmental teams focused on Northwest FCS' relationships with regional land grant universities to identify mutual research interests and potential collaborative projects.

Conducts research interviews, onsite visits, phone calls, and customer-facing educational programs.

Perform all duties and maintain all standards in accordance with company policies, procedures, and internal controls.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in agricultural economics, agribusiness, economics, business or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Related experience in agriculture or natural resource-based business is generally required; experience should include managing simultaneous projects; professional writing; and developing, analyzing, and communicating industry research.

Ability to work collaboratively with executive level stakeholders to scope and define research proposals.

Expertise in both quantitative and qualitative research and analysis methods.

Proficient in the use of technology for data analysis and reporting including advanced use of MS Office tools and internet search.

Exceptional business writing and verbal communication skills.

Ability to successfully lead concurrent projects and remote teams in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

Thorough knowledge of agricultural economics and agribusiness, including macroeconomic conditions, industry trends, structural changes and relevant policy.
