POSITION

Ovid Therapeutics is seeking an Associate Scientist (AS) with experience in neurobiology to join our Research and Early Development (RED) team in Cambridge, MA. The Associate Scientist will play a key role in developing preclinical disease models for the assessment of therapeutic modalities, including small molecule or molecular/genetic therapeutics. Within this function, this individual will support all aspects of drug development- from lead identification through drug product validation. As part of a collaborative team environment, this individual will be a pivotal player in preclinical developments and will report to an Associate Director of Research. The AS will conduct R&D projects on various cell types and molecular systems. The ideal candidate has a background in neurobiology and will deliver reliably and responsibly on independent research initiatives by applying technical proficiency, attention to detail, troubleshooting skills, and the ability to interpret changes in methodological design. S/he will analyze and interpret data and present results to various cross-functional project teams.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Hands-on experience performing basic cell and molecular techniques, such as protein extraction, protein gel electrophoresis, western blotting, IHC, qPCR, flow cytometry, and cell imaging.
  • Working knowledge using standardized cell lines, iPSCs and/or primary neuronal cultures models
  • Support laboratory activities by helping maintain lab supplies and general lab functions.
  • Analyze and document experimental data for written or oral presentations
  • Build strong collaborative relationships within research and development team to meet project, departmental, and company goals


REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent degree in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or related discipline.
  • 5+ years laboratory experience
  • Experienced in cell and molecular technologies
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong commitment to quality and accountability
  • Strong organizational and project management skills


PREFERRED QUALIFICATION
  • Master's degree
  • 3+ years of relevant industry experience
  • Oversee non-clinical report generation for ongoing studies and results
  • Experience with data plotting and summarizing software (Excel/GraphPad Prism)
