Position Overview:
We are seeking a well-qualified candidate to join our in vitro pharmacology efforts. The candidate will develop and utilize a suite of biochemical and cell-based assays for characterizing the potency of small molecule inhibitors. The individual will also be responsible for performing mechanism of action studies. The position requires organizing, coordinating, and executing laboratory functions and assignments. The candidate will also be expected to work effectively with colleagues from diverse disciplines and to present experimental findings to others.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Biochemistry and cell biology expertise with knowledge of techniques associated with setting up and executing biochemical and cellular assays and culturing both primary cells and cell lines.
- Familiarity with utilizing 96/384-well formats.
- Experience with the following techniques is desired: TR-FRET, Alphascreen, binding assays, enzyme inhibition assays, protein assays, cell proliferation, ELISAs.
- Knowledge of software for analyzing dose-response data, such as Prism and Excel, and of creating presentations in Power Point.
- Candidate must have a capability of reading and evaluating the scientific literature to aid in novel assay development.
- Familiarity with lab automation is a plus.
- Hands on experience in the areas of immunology and/or inflammation is beneficial.
Basic Qualifications:
- B.S./B.A., M.S. or equivalent in biochemistry, biology, chemistry or a related field.
- 5+ years Biotech/Pharma experience in small molecule drug discovery.
- Track record of successfully working in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must have permanent US work authorization
