Job Summary
AECOM is seeking a Senior Restoration Ecologist/Landscape Architect or Landscape Designer to join the Environmental Planning team in our Sacramento office. The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate technical excellence and an established career in Landscape Architecture/Habitat Restoration, preferably with a portfolio that includes both private sector and public agency clients. The successful candidate would become a part of a dynamic northern California Environmental Planning team that enjoys excellent relationships with a wide range of local, regional, and state agencies, as well as private and nonprofit clients. Our Sacramento office has built a reputation for innovation, high-quality work, attentive client service, and a collegial office culture that fosters the highest degree of teamwork. The successful candidate would have a unique platform for developing and executing work, being able to integrate, to the benefit of our clients, ecological restoration and landscape design services with our expertise in environmental analysis and mitigation, urban design, policy planning, engineering and design, mitigation monitoring, and related disciplines. The successful candidate would help to win and execute projects related to riparian habitats, wetland restoration, parks and recreation planning and design, natural land management, and sustainable landscape design, as well as other project types, depending on the background and interest of the individual candidate. The successful candidate will have strong knowledge of the landscape architectural and restoration business environment in the Sacramento area, and if the candidate had a knowledge of Tahoe, the Sierra Nevada, Bay Area, and/or Central Valley markets, that would be desirable, as well.
Job responsibilities include but aren't limited to the following:
- Active participation in marketing and business development for habitat restoration services and landscape design
- Leading projects related to ecological restoration and landscape design;project management
- Preparation and oversight of the preparation of Plans, Specifications and Estimates (PS&E)
- Landscape-level restoration planning and site-specific restoration design
- Sustainable landscape design
- Park and recreational design
- Natural resources management
- Conservation planning.

Minimum Requirements
- BA/SA in Landscape Architecture or BS Ecological Restoration or a related field + 8 years of relevant (emphasis on landscape design, ecological restoration, parks and recreation facility plus an excellent knowledge of CA native plants and communities) experience or demonstrated equivalency of expertise and/or education.
Preferred Qualifications
- MA or MS preferred in Biological Sciences, Ecology, Watershed Planning, Natural Resource Management, Hydrology, Geomorphology, or Physical Geography
- 10 years of experience with an emphasis on landscape design, ecological restoration, parks and recreation facility planning/design, construction document preparation.
- Experience with both private and public sector projects is preferred
- Knowledge of the marketplace in the Sacramento area, and if the candidate had a knowledge of Tahoe, Sierra Nevada, Bay Area, and/or Central Valley markets, that could be helpful, as well.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Good presentation capabilities, experience in business development.
- Experience managing budgets, schedules, and subconsultants (in architecture, engineering and construction support, for example).
- Capability to work effectively with MS Word, Excel, and AutoCad.
- Ability to work with people in a cooperative environment, as an ambassador for the firm and our clients.
- Capable of managing multiple tasks
