Shift:

Mon-Fri: 7: 30-4 some flexibility if spills occur and for storm water sampling, which is once a quarter.

Pay:

$21.70 hr

Position Summary:

The Environmental Tech I assists with the compliance to environmental permits, policies and regulations and supports quality activities associated with Engineered Nylons and Performance Monofilaments products.

Primary Functions:
  • Assure compliance with site regulatory environmental permits (recordkeeping, reporting, permitting, renewal, inspection and testing).
  • Administers the Environmental Compliance Calendar and completes assignments
  • Inspects facility processes to detect existing or potential environmental, safety and health hazards. Drives corrective and preventative measures where indicated and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented.
  • Serve as liaison for hazardous waste pickup and third-party environmental testing agencies.
  • Maintain hazardous waste area with bi-weekly inspections.
  • Assist the Quality and Environmental Manager with environmental training and informative meetings for various levels of the company s associates.
  • Assist the Quality and Environmental Manager with customer requests regarding environmental compliance.
  • Assist the Quality and Environmental Manager with driving continuous improvement of the environmental compliance program.

Secondary Functions:
  • Monitor calibrations in the Gagepack calibration system. Notify correct personnel when calibrations are upcoming/overdue. Conduct calibrations completed internally.
  • Manage lab records, raw material inspection report, inventory, raw material certs and other test documents.
  • Test each production lot of nylon resins in a timely manner for percent moisture, relative viscosity, monomer, melting point, color, speck count, solubility, transmittance, melt index and amine end group analysis.
  • Identify products and compare test data to the specifications and determine if product is conforming or non-conforming. Communicate results with the production team.
  • Perform special tests to support R&D, sales and extrusion departments.
  • Monitor product performance using SPC chart.
  • Adhere to requirements of ISO9001: 2008 quality management system.

Education:

Bachelor of Science degree in a science discipline (i.E., environmental science, materials, chemistry)

Experience/Skills:
  • Strong computer skills; ability to easily learn new software programs.
  • Ability to be flexible with regards to changing priorities while maintaining a positive attitude
  • Self-starter; must be able to set daily priorities, drive thru roadblocks, or develop alternate solutions to achieve desired outcomes. Independent working requiring minimal day-to-day direction or oversight.
  • Demonstrates a high concern for detail, accuracy, and compliance to Company and Corporate policies and procedures.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including excellent written and verbal skills.
  • Ability to work with cross function groups; Strong team player.
