Developing, operating and managing the data center infrastructure and facilities the "right" way is synonymous with ensuring business operations, capacity availability, global portfolio flexibility and cost efficiency in a safe working environment. Facebook evaluates sites across the world for data center and network development, and is seeking an environmental expert to join and manage the environmental team for our North America data center portfolio. This position will report directly to the Global Manager of the Environment & Water Team. Comprehensive environmental technical expertise as well as excellent communication, organizational and people management skills are required for this position. This position is full-time and travel may be needed occasionally to visit our data center sites and attend agency or stakeholder meetings. Environmental Team Manager Responsibilities * Manage a team of 4+ environmental experts Drive strategy, alignment and prioritization across the discipline with cross functional partners in site selection, sustainability, construction, and operations Work with the Data Center leadership team to build a long-term strategic vision and goals for the environmental program Establish strategy across the team by building alignment on priorities leading to project and program execution Creatively define and establish processes and reviews to support decision making, prioritization and track and measure progress Explore new ways to measure and communicate the value and impact of environmental management to drive goal-setting and goal reporting each half Manage team budget planning and requests Strengthen foundation of environmental management integration into site selection, design, construction, sustainability and operations Facilitate the growth of the environmental program within Facebook Data Centers as the company continues to grow and build environmental stewardship and excellence Identify, monitor and establish company positions on relevant environmental policy changes for our data centers Strengthen the environmental program by building a better communications strategy Create and expand on programs to share team learnings across the organization Provide environmental expertise to diverse internal teams and coordinate with other teams about relevant issues and requirements Support team in develop training and educational tools regarding environmental management, compliance and awareness Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed (up to 25%) Minimum Qualifications * Bachelor's degree and 13+ years professional experience in environmental planning, science, engineering, or other related field 2+ years of direct people management experience Technical experience related to environmental due diligence and permitting for large development projects, including wetlands permitting, cultural resource investigations, Phase I Environmental Site Assessments, air permitting, and/or noise evaluations Background establishing programs, supporting teams, and developing relationships Professional experience in working with regulatory agencies Self-motivator and experience executing and tracking tasks Proven communication skills, especially achieving alignment across multiple discipline Preferred Qualifications * Master's degree in environmental planning, science, engineering, or other related field Locations About the Facebook company Facebook's mission is to give people the power to build community and bring the world closer together.
