The Kissler laboratory is in need of a Research Assistant to support all research activities and manage the day-to-day running of the laboratory.

  • Manage the daily operations of the laboratory
    • Inventory supplies, materials and equipment
    • Maintain electronic records for all inventory
    • Keep track of supplies and stocks
    • Re-order routine supplies and stocks as needed
    • Coordinate the maintenance of a clean and safe lab environment
    • Schedule maintenance and repair services for all equipment

    2. Act as laboratory safety officer
      • Ensure compliance with all laboratory and chemical safety rules
      • Liaise with Joslin's safety officer
      • Address any safety issues and coordinate necessary service calls if necessary
      • Coordinate routine safety checks of equipment

    3. Support research activities
      • Perform molecular biology assays including PCR and quantitative PCR
      • Support the maintenance of the laboratory's animal colony (e.g. tagging animals and taking blood or tissue samples, weighing mice, weaning litters, setting up breeders etc.)

    4. Assist with animal orders and shipments
      • Place mouse orders from commercial vendors
      • Coordinate the import and export of animals with external collaborators

    5. Other duties as assigned.

    • Bachelor or Masters in Biology or Biomedical Sciences
    • Animal handling experience prefererred, but not required.
