What You Will Do:
  • Ensures that employees, contractors, and visitors are provided a safe and secure working environment.
  • Coordinates with other plant superintendents and departments to direct activities toward meeting overall plant SH&E goals and needs.
  • Leads SH&E personnel and ensures that the facility complies with all government regulations related to air, land, and water pollution, safety, process safety and security codes or regulations. Oversees the performance and compliance of security personnel, processes, procedures, and training.
  • Maintains working knowledge of governmental SH&E regulations and relevant new technology, processes, products, and equipment. Ensures that all site employees are trained and informed of health, safety, and environmental compliance.
  • Maintains records and submits reports to ensure plant SH&E compliance. Including but to limited to applicable construction, operating and discharge permits. Meeting deadlines for submission of these reports is critical to this position.
  • Performs other plant activities, such as acting as liaison with governmental agencies and trade associations, including, but not limited to: Department of Homeland Security, Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality (LDEQ), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
  • Completes special projects relating to SH&E as assigned by the Plant Manager or Corporate Office.
  • Plans and oversees the SHE department budget.
  • Supports the guiding principles of Responsible Care to continually improve Port Allen's plant's safety, health and environmental performance, process safety, security, and efforts to respond to public concerns relating to design, development, manufacture, storage, marketing, distribution, use and ultimate safe disposal of chemical products.
  • Supports and is committed to the Quality Improvement Process. Plans strategies to ensure error-free work by "doing it right the first time" and conveys this attitude in the daily performance of various duties.
  • Supports and incorporates the activities of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) into ongoing work duties through teamwork within and across departments. Use TPM to eliminate losses and waste that hamper facility effectiveness so that safety is advanced, process and equipment are reliable, quality is stabilized / improved, and reduce operating costs. This position will lead the TPM effort at the site.
  • Train in the Quality Lab to be a back-up for the quality analysts.


Position Details:
  • Candidate must be able to work in: Port Allen, LA
  • Work week is Monday-Friday days with overtime as needed. Weekend work will be required at certain times during the year.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, safety management, environmental or related field
  • 5 - 10 years related experience, preferably in the chemical industry.
  • No Immigration Sponsorship available for this opportunity

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous chemical plant experience
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively across all levels of an organization
  • Strong verbal and written skills
