The Department of Molecular, Cell, and Developmental Biology at the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC) invites applications for a project scientist. Under the direction of Associate Professor Zhu Wang, the project scientist will conduct original research aimed at elucidating the cells of origin for bladder cancer and understanding the roles of essential tumor suppressor genes and oncogenes in bladder cancer progression. Duties will include generation of new bladder cancer mouse models and histological and molecular analyses of tumors. The selected candidate will be expected to write manuscripts and grant proposals, maintain research infrastructure, and assist in the training of new lab members.

Applicants with the following qualifications are strongly encouraged to apply: Two or more years' laboratory research experience (obtained after completion of doctoral degree) including technical expertise in genetic mouse models of the urological system, in vivo electroporation procedures, and in vivo CRISPR techniques.

SALARY
Commensurate with qualifications and experience.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
PhD (or an equivalent foreign degree) in molecular biology, cell biology, genetics, biochemistry, or a related field and at least two years' laboratory research experience (obtained after completion of doctoral degree). Degree requirement must be completed at the time of application.

Initial appointment will be full time for one year. Reappointment may be considered contingent upon the availability of work and appropriate funding.
