Research Associate II - Senior RA, Cell & Molecular Biology
A seed-stage genomic medicine company, Chroma Medicine has brought together world-leading scientific founders, strong investment backing including Newpath Partners and Atlas Venture, and an experienced team to build innovative technologies aimed at precisely controlling gene expression via targeted modification of the epigenome. Through our novel approach, the Chroma team aspires to usher in a new era of therapeutics by providing life changing treatment options to patients suffering from genetically treatable diseases. While currently in "stealth mode", we are hiring at our Cambridge, Massachusetts site, offering a unique opportunity to be part of the foundational Chroma team. RESPONSIBILITIES

Successful candidates will:
  • Collaborate with project teams to design and implement protocols and analyses necessary for the development of our epigenetic editing platform
  • Execute specialized assays in order to provide key information to inform future studies
  • Participate in lab organization by actively maintaining electronic lab notebooks and inventories
  • Contribute positively to the culture of a young company to create a healthy and exciting work environment

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS
  • B.S. or M.S. in cell/molecular biology, genetics, or related discipline with 5+ years relevant laboratory experience
  • Preference for experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry
  • Strong technical expertise in molecular biology techniques, including ELISA, [RT]qPCR, ddPCR, DNA/RNA isolation, PCR, plasmid cloning, and western blot.
  • Technical experience in cell culture, including sterile technique, transfection, flow cytometry, cell line development, and gene editing.
  • Experience with implementation of automation of mid to high-throughput assays a plus
  • Collaborative, team-oriented mindset
  • Passionate, adaptable, and keen on working in the fast-paced biotech startup space
  • Detail oriented and self-motivated, with excellent problem solving and organizational skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills

PREFERRED SKILLS
  • Extensive hands-on assay development experience with ELISA, [RT]qPCR, and ddPCR
  • Experience operating laboratory automation / liquid handlers such as Biomek i5/i7, Hamilton STAR/Vantage, Tecan Fluent or similar.
  • Experience with primary cell culture
  • Experience using statistical packages for data analysis
  • Epigenetics, chromatin biology, and/or transcriptional regulation knowledge a plus
