Our diverse laboratories perform routine and specialty analytical testing for compliance, safety, certification and verification purposes.

Responsibilities
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Mechanical/Technical
  • Ability to troubleshoot basic electronics, gauges and mechanical instruments.
  • Computer background, familiarity with spreadsheets, data input
  • Ability to read, understand, and execute technical SOP's (Standard operation protocols)
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task, organized, detail oriented and possess excellent problem solving capabilities.
  • Good time management capabilities and able to meet deadlines.
  • Proven ability to learn new concepts quickly.
  • Dedication to supporting goals, objectives, and philosophies of ALS. Able to take ownership for meeting goals and objectives; willing to be accountable for own decisions, and willing to give 100%. Look for new ways to accomplish objectives.
  • English verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate with clients, staff and management.
  • Multi-tasked, organized, detail oriented, and possesses problem solving capabilities; will have good time management capabilities.
  • Self-motivated and self-directed; able to work independently.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Specific Responsibilities:

Conduct field checks, audits, surveys and update as built exhaust and drain systems drawings.
  • Perform Stack Emissions Tests in accordance with established protocols.
  • Perform fugitive emission surveys for virgin solvent supply and waste solvent systems.
  • Determine and quantify all disposal routes for each chemical.
  • Certifiable for opacity monitoring, per USEPA method 9.
  • AutoCAD knowledge a plus.
  • Technician will support collection of samples, prepare reagents/standards for use in air monitoring test methods.
  • Technicians are expected to conform to established safety and security regulations and housekeeping procedures and to maintain facility cleanliness.


Job Requirements:

  • Current Driver's license with clean driving record.
  • Ability to operate company vehicle.
  • Knows the region and able to read maps.

Required Qualifications:
  • Associate's Degree in Environmental Science, or Technical Field or experience in lieu of a Degree and/or at least 5 years relevant experience


Physical Requirements:
  • Hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone;
  • Able to speak and hear clearly while communicating with co-workers, Department team members, management, and clients.
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs on a consistent basis (may request and use a dolly for situations requiring heavy loads).
  • Dexterity in hands and fingers to operate vehicle, computer and other equipment.
  • Must have average vision and able to see to read reports and office equipment.
  • Able to speak and hear clearly while communicating with co-workers, Department team members, management, and clients.
  • Able to sit, drive, and walk for 100% of an 8 hour day.
  • Must be able to drive and get in and out of vehicle.
  • Must have average vision and able to see to read reports and operate vehicle, office equipment.
  • Will be required to work in all weather conditions throughout the year.
  • Overtime as needed.
