Under general supervision, provides a wide variety of technical lab support duties for classroom and research labs in a busy undergraduate science department. Requires knowledge of basic lab skills and equipment, thorough documentation of lab procedures and protocols, dedicated maintenance of laboratory records and inventories, troubleshooting lab protocols, and strong verbal and written communication skills.
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in related field of science required;
2-4 years research lab experience, including familiarity with basic microbiology or molecular biology lab protocols
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Understanding of research methods, laboratory techniques, and care of laboratory equipment;
Ability to interpret data, troubleshoot and resolve technical issues;
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook;
Detail oriented;
Analytical skills;
Strong work ethic, excellent written and communication skills, and the ability to work independently;
Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends depending upon lab support needs
Physical Requirements:
Seeing: 75 - 100%
Hearing: 50 - 74%
Standing/Climbing/Mobility: 75-100%
Lifting/Pulling/Pushing: 50-75% % (pound: 20 lbs.)
Ability to hold, grip, grasp or otherwise manipulate items using fingers and hands: 75-100%
Travel: No
