The Division Manager of EHSS is the environmental health safety and sustainability direct support to the division. This position is responsible for monitoring & influencing Safety and Environmental compliance in support of the strategic and tactical business plans for retail. This position monitors Line Driven support of fostering a strong Environmental, Health & Safety Sustainability (EHSS) culture to achieve operational excellence. *This role will support our Central Division, the ideal candidate will live within this geography. *

RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential Job Functions:

* Administer comprehensive OSHA, EPA and Company Compliance Programs through Management Leadership & Teammate Involvement, Worksite Analysis, Hazard Prevention and Control, and Environmental Health and Safety Training
* Drive the operational implementation of EHSS strategies and initiatives in a way that builds a Division-wide culture of compliance, performance and reputation;
* Manage the day-to-day operation of the division's EHSS function;
* Ensures EHSS polices are implemented to maintain compliance to standard by validating EHSS Assessments (store self-audits) and providing onsite coaching of Area Managers through the process of conducting Genbutsu-Genbas with Division, Region, Area, and Store Teams;
* Provides guidance on regulatory/legislative matters (OSHA, NIOSH, ANSI, NFPA, EPA) to Leadership and oversee government compliance inspections and activities;
* Supports operations in the EHSS incident investigation process and completes all required internal reporting measures (12-Hour, SIN/Fire Notice, etc.);
* Works with Division and Region leadership to identify and improve upon EHSS compliance and culture utilizing both leading and lagging indicators;
* Maintain an effective system for identifying, reporting, investigating, tracking, and trending incidents and taking action to ensure appropriate countermeasures are implemented;
* Attends Division business meetings to provide EHSS updates and initiatives and to ensure EHSS is embedded into the operational processes
* Attend relevant industry conferences and professional meetings to maintain professional competencies and benchmark Company performance versus others;
* Reports to BSRO EHSS Director

Other Essential Functions: Daily interface with other departments and the field regarding EHSS matters

* Strong leadership and supervisory skills and the ability to influence others and work in an open and consultative manner
* Ability to succeed in a fast-paced, changing environment, demonstrating initiative and self-motivation
* Demonstrates sound business judgment and the ability to grasp the complexities of a large business organization and the application of legal and regulatory requirements to the organization
* Ability to comprehend applicability of laws and regulation, with the advice of Company counsel, and to develop appropriate policies relative to the business
* Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to be precise and direct in communicating to larger and smaller groups

Work Environment and Time Requirements: This position will require someone who can take initiative, make decisions and take responsibility for them, and react quickly to changing conditions requiring rapid shifts in priorities. Job requires up to 60% travel.

Preferred Educational and/or Work Experience: BS degree in Safety or Engineering/Science (Chemical, Civil, Environmental) plus 2 years environmental, safety and health experience or 4 years of Automotive experience in management position with responsibilities that include compliance with company standards and coaching and developing teammates.
