Job DescriptionMolecular Biologist Cambridge, MA Pay Rate- 38-41/hr Hunter International is currently seeking a Molecular Biologist to join their team in Cambridge, MA. The ideal candidate will have experience working with RNA: in vitro RNA production, mRNA mammalian cell transfection, DNA construct design/assembly, mammalian cell culture, and automated liquid handling. The candidate will play a critical role in a core group that consistently delivers hundreds of purified antibodies per week to research teams across BMD. The candidate will be responsible for design and troubleshooting of high-throughput molecular biology methods and in vitro transcription templates, participation in high-throughput mRNA production, and mammalian cell transfections of hundreds-thousands of mRNA fragments in a high-throughput manner. The candidate will also be responsible for updating the laboratory database and relaying data in organized presentations to project teams. Molecular Biologist Responsibilities-
  • DNA plasmid design & cloning
  • Design & optimization of high throughput IVT and mRNA transfection methods
  • High throughput molecular biology manipulations including PCR setup, DNA & RNA purification using liquid handling automation.
  • DNA & RNA quantitation & QC
  • Optimization & automation of processes throughout the mRNA workflow.
  • Participation in high-throughput production and screening campaigns.
  • Organization and storage of DNA fragments/plasmids and IVT samples, including tracking using Genedata Biologics Software, as well as record keeping using electronic laboratory notebooks
  • Close interaction with project teams to plan and coordinate experiments
  • Regular review of literature to maintain knowledge of scientific trends and industry processes, advance molecular biology and protein production methods.
Molecular Biologist Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree & 5 years of experience, or master's degree and 1 year of experience, in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biology, Biological Engineering or a related discipline along with a basic understanding of antibodies and protein production.
  • At least 2 years of experience and demonstrated technical proficiency in molecular biology: mRNA preparation and analysis, PCR, molecular cloning, construct design, sequence analysis.
  • At least 1 year of experience with using laboratory automation, including writing and troubleshooting protocols.
  • Track record of strong problem solving and organizational skills, orientation to detail.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize responsibilities, work under strict deadlines, and remain flexible with changing needs.
  • Ability to work effectively to solve process development problems and implement improved procedures.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
