The Environment Health and Safety Coordinators Career role

Protect the employees, customers, and the environment

Develop, establish, and maintain an environmental health and safety program that strives to meet or exceed all regulatory requirements, and provides for a safe work environment that is free of hazards in pursuit of zero work-related injuries / illnesses, using a behavioral based approach

Accountable and responsible for preventing and eliminating injury and illness to employees and comply with safety laws. Inspect workplaces, and minimize or eliminate hazards from processes, such as incorrect working methods, and materials

The Environment Health and Safety Coordinators Main Responsibility
  • Lead and manage all aspects of the Environmental Health and Safety program in plant
  • Assist in ensuring compliance to all Safety Work Practices, regulatory standards (EPA, OSHA, NFPA, etc.) and plant policies and procedures.
  • Lead the ISO 14001 EHS requirements and audit process for continued certification
  • Work with outside Environmental firms to ensure environmental compliance
  • Formulate & deliver safety training presentations, and training for both, hourly & Salary.
  • Deliver EHS orientation to new and temporary associates.
  • Assist in ensuring proper training and compliance to plant EHS policies and procedures involving contractors / vendor personnel.
  • Conduct proactive safety surveys and inspections
  • Perform, document, and trend behavioral-safety observations.
  • Analyze data and perform trending analysis to identify and implement corrective actions as well as develop strategic risk Improvement strategies.
  • Provide technical assistance to associates in evaluating new / altered production equipment for potential hazards.
  • Maintain databases and programs in support of the EHS initiatives
  • Aid in the completion of the Plant' s annual reports
  • Conduct ergonomic assessments of equipment, workstations, etc. as needed.
  • Research safety equipment for its application and purchase.
  • Assist in personal protective equipment (PPE) selection and trials as well as to ensure its proper use, maintenance, and storage.
  • Assist in workers compensation claim management and return to work programs.
  • Serve as an EHS Champion in furthering " Safety First" culture.
  • To be engaged with shop floor supervisors and employees through time on the floor; expected to be at least 50% of time.

The Environment Health and Safety Coordinators Education and Experience required
  • Bachelor' s Degree in Safety, Industrial Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene or related discipline.
  • Minimum of three to five years of experience
  • Good working knowledge of all OSHA and EPA regulations.
  • Experience managing OHSA visits and audits.
  • Knowledge of industrial hygiene test methods and monitoring programs to also include hazard mitigation techniques.
  • Knowledge of Tier II reporting, Air permitting, and hazardous waste management.
  • Knowledge of workers compensation law and claim management experience. Knowledge of light duty / return to work programs.
  • Computer skills are essential - Microsoft Office environment.
  • ISO14001 registered
