Surrozen was founded by five leading-edge scientists: K. Christopher Garcia, Ph.D., Roel Nusse, Ph.D. and Calvin Kuo, M.D., Ph.D. from Stanford University; Claudia Janda, Ph.D. from the Princess Maxima Center for Pediatric Oncology; and Hans Clevers, M.D, Ph.D. from the Hubrecht Institute and Princess Maxima Center. Each has conducted extensive research on Wnt signaling, with findings that together shape Surrozens technology and approach to therapeutic development.

We are looking for a highly motivated Research Associate with Biology background to join the Molecular Biology team within the Protein Science group. The successful candidate will support molecular design and cloning, DNA preparation, and protein expression to support Surrozens research programs and technology development. This position is a great opportunity for experienced associates as well as recent graduates to expand their skills in state-of-the-art molecular biology techniques while accelerating therapeutic discovery and development in regenerative medicine.

Responsibilities

* Perform routine molecular biology techniques, including but not limited to cloning, assembly, transformation, sequence analysis, plasmid DNA prep and PCR, both manually and on automation platform

* Perform DNA quality control and documentation

* Manage inventory of required materials and maintain lab equipment to support DNA construction and preparation

* Optimize and standardize high throughput workflow

* Support technology development and implement new molecular biology technologies

* Keep good records of lab work in electronic lab notebook (ELN) and in-house database

* Gather data, perform analysis and present results to team member

Requirements

* BS/MS in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry or a closely-related field

* Strong organizational, time management, and documentation skills

* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

* Excellent computer skills with experience using Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft PowerPoint

* Self-motivated, detail oriented and thorough, and be capable to work both independently and collaboratively

* Ability and desire to work in a fast paced, start up environment

Experience in the following is a plus:

* Relevant experience in industry or academic setting

* Familiarity with Python, R or similar environments for data analysis

* Experience with wet lab automation system

* Experience with high throughput DNA and/or protein analysis
