About this opportunity
The Corporate Environmental Compliance and Sustainability Manager provides leadership and guidance to facility environmental leads and develops and maintains the Company's energy management programs, procedures, training, and work practices for the U.S. Packaging Businesses. This position reports to the Global Risk Manager and Environmental and Energy Management Director for the US Business Groups.

What you will do
  • Assist with the implementation of TC Transcontinental and Transcontinental Packaging Environmental Policies, Procedures and Energy Management Goals and Objectives. Participate in internal and third-party led environmental compliance audits.
  • Monitor and interpret local, state and federal environmental laws and regulations. Prepare and provide environmental guidance and compliance directives to the manufacturing facilities. Communicates and ensures conformance to TC Company-wide environmental policy, programs and practices.
  • Serve as liaison with regulatory agencies and advises senior and facility management on adherence to current regulatory issues and changes to the laws, including identifying deficiencies and assisting with developing and implementing corrective actions.
  • Participate with environmental due diligence, as directed, for acquisitions and divestitures of business units.
  • Oversee the program for gathering and reporting of environmental and energy management key performance indicators (KPIs) for the Packaging Business' that measure progress toward achieving the Company's environmental sustainability goals including reducing emissions to the environment. Assist with preparing other external sustainability disclosure documents as requested.
  • Assist with on-going analysis of environmental and energy performance data, benchmarking with other leading companies, identifying new opportunities for improvement, recommending environmental sustainability goals, and support the Company's strategic sustainability action plans.
  • Assist Corporate Environmental Staff with reporting of environmental and energy management progress in the TC Transcontinental's Corporate Social Report.
  • Assist with and oversees submittal of applications for environmental permits, certifications and authorizations for Packaging Business facilities including new and/or relocated manufacturing and emission control equipment.
  • Assist the Global Risk Manager with the collecting and providing data and information for Pollution Liability Insurance for the Packaging Businesses.
  • Evaluate and recommend the selection and design of environmental control equipment.
  • Provide expert advice to others in addressing specific customer inquiries related to environmental aspects and impacts of manufacturing processes and products.
  • Drive continuous improvement of environmental and energy management programs to meet or exceed regulatory requirements and add value to the Business.
  • Support and contribute to a healthy and safe work environment by following all workplace regulations, policies, and initiatives, including reporting all first aid injuries, accidents, and workplace hazards.


What you have to offer
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Geology, Environmental Sciences or other Natural Science from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum 10 years' progressive professional experience in the Environmental Compliance Field including 5 years in the manufacturing industry. Strong working knowledge of U.S. and multiple state Environmental regulations. Experience and working knowledge of energy management programs with some U.S. Health and Safety regulatory knowledge.
  • Experience and working knowledge in strategic energy management, industrial site energy management and industrial process efficiency.
  • Valid Driver's License and acceptable driving record to drive company and personal vehicles with the ability to travel up to 25% of the time.
  • Strong strategic planning, budgeting and business acumen, an innovative thinker, customer and results focused.
  • Must be able to work well independently, be self-motivated, demonstrate excellent communication skills, including report writing, and speaking effectively to company personnel, customers, outside companies and government agencies to successfully achieve objectives.
  • Must be able to work effectively and build the necessary relationships in matrixes organization.
