Join a team that has the environment down to a science. Your Opportunity We currently have an opening for Environmental Science/Engineering Field Technologist position in our Edmonton, AB office. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting environmental field data collection, analysis, and reporting in our Environmental Services group, primarily with the waste management and environmental auditing team. There will also be additional opportunities to work on other environmental services projects. Your Key Responsibilities * Fulfilling health and safety requirements and completing all work in accordance with established protocols * Providing logistical support for reporting and field work * Participating in local and remote-areas field work, working up to 12 hours per day * Ensuring that field data is collected using best practices in accordance with standard procedures * Accurate recording of field data through implementation of quality management procedures and attention to detail * Data entry/management and technical reporting * Field work may include data collection for waste management projects, surface water and groundwater monitoring, soil monitoring, and other environmental field services * Assisting with equipment maintenance and management Qualifications Your Capabilities and Credentials The successful candidate will have the following: * Dedication to working safely within established procedures and protocols * Adaptability, organization, critical thinking, self-motivation, a keen willingness to learn, a love of the outdoors, attention to detail, succinct writing ability, and ability to multitask * Strong communication skills and the ability to identify issues in the field while working with senior staff to develop solutions * Proficiency with standard productivity software including all MSOffice products * Additional skills such as current First Aid training, WHMIS, H2S Alive, UTV operator training, water and soils sampling, mechanical aptitude and experience in the field of Environmental Science or Engineering are assets but are not required. * Practical knowledge of working outdoors or in an outdoor environment are assets but are not required. * Ability to lift 50 pounds * Able to travel and mobilize to sites on minimal notice Education and Experience The successful candidate must (at minimum) be enrolled in a post-secondary degree/certificate program in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related discipline. Recent graduates of these post-secondary programs are also invited to apply. Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include long days (12 hours), with last minute schedule changes and exposure to the elements including inclement weather. A valid driver's license and the ability to lift and move items and equipment up to 50 lbs is a requirement for this position.
