The State Hygienic Laboratory (Iowas Environmental and Public Health Laboratory), at the University of Iowa, has an opportunity for you to make a difference as an Environmental Laboratory Analyst . The position is to contribute to the Laboratory Support Services section of the State Hygienic Laboratory (SHL). Within a high-volume, fast-paced clinical lab environment, this position will perform sample accessioning, and preparation, utilizing the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
Position Status2 Year Specified Term
Shift Details: Shift would be either be 6 am 2:30 pm or 10 am 6 pm Monday through Friday.
These positions will also need to be aware that if we have an increase in samples, these positions will need to adjust their hours to accommodate the work. Rotating Holidays.

About the State Hygienic Laboratory
The State Hygienic Laboratorys main facilities are headquartered on the University of Iowa's Research Park campus northwest of Iowa City in Coralville. Additional testing facilities are part of the Iowa Laboratory Facilities in Ankeny, a Des Moines suburb.
Since 1904, the State Hygienic Laboratory has been at the forefront of public health issues in Iowa. As the states public health and environmental laboratory, the Hygienic Laboratory serves all of Iowas 99 counties through disease detection, environmental monitoring, and newborn and maternal screening.
Qualifications:
Education or Equivalency Required
A Bachelors degree in science, or closely related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
Required Qualifications
Typically, six months to one year of relevant laboratory experience.
Demonstrates a basic proficiency in effective communication concepts, using varied tools and techniques to transmit, receive and interpret information both written and verbally.
Demonstrates a basic proficiency with Microsoft Office products and other computer-based programs.
Desirable Qualifications
Demonstrates basic knowledge and experience with Laboratory Information Systems (LIMS).
Basic knowledge in either clinical or environmental lab methods.
Working experience in a high-volume, fast-paced lab environment.
