About the position: GreenLight Biosciences is seeking an exceptional, highly skilled Environmental Health and Safety Specialist to support our high-tech, fast-paced laboratory facilities in our Medford location. The successful candidate will work hands-on to support the EHS manager and existing EHS programs and policies. Additionally, you will partner with our operations team to help implement new spaces and processes. The ideal candidate will have experience working in and supporting a laboratory environment and be familiar with common laboratory equipment and practices. A strong candidate will also have knowledge of EHS systems and related regulations. Strong communication and organizational skills, as well as an enthusiasm for collaboratively working with and supporting others, are essential.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Perform hazardous waste collection and assist with waste management program.
  • Chemical inventory entry/reconciliation. SDS binders, with assistance/oversite of the EHS manager.
  • Assist with gathering and maintaining Environmental Health and Safety records. (Lab inspections, Waste inspections, Flammable inventories, Safety Risk Assessments, Training records)
  • Resolves minor safety issues, in conjunction with the EHS Committee team.
  • Assist with safety audits and periodic inspections.
  • Participate in EHS committee, Emergency Response Team.
  • Light travel to support nearby laboratory location.
  • Participate in accident/incident investigations and corrective action processes.
  • Help with administrative duties as needed (file organization, binder preparations, EHS supply ordering).
  • Assist with emergency equipment inspections as needed (eyewash/safety showers, spill kits).
  • Personal Protective Equipment re-stocking/ordering.
  • Obtain necessary training and certifications.


Qualifications
  • BS/BA in Safety or Environmental sciences, or 1-2 years experience in the Life sciences (R&D), Environmental Health and Safety Field
  • Must have excellent organizational, analytical, and administrative skills
  • Be dependable and a detail-oriented team player.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and handle assigned tasks to completion.
  • Highly proficient communicator, both written and verbal
  • Familiar with technical knowledge of health, safety, and environmental topics
  • Knowledge in Ma-DEP, EPA, OSHA (1910), RCRA, EHS program awareness (Emergency action plans, Chemical Hygiene, Chemical Management, Bio-Safety)
