Surrozen was founded by five leading-edge scientists: K. Christopher Garcia, Ph.D., Roel Nusse, Ph.D. and Calvin Kuo, M.D., Ph.D. from Stanford University; Claudia Janda, Ph.D. from the Princess Maxima Center for Pediatric Oncology; and Hans Clevers, M.D, Ph.D. from the Hubrecht Institute and Princess Maxima Center. Each has conducted extensive research on Wnt signaling, with findings that together shape Surrozens technology and approach to therapeutic development.

We are currently recruiting a Research Associate to join our Discovery Biology group. This is an outstanding opportunity for a talented, enthusiastic, and motivated scientist to work in an exciting, collaborative environment with great colleagues who are dedicated to advancing Surrozens mission.


* Bachelors or Masters degree in Molecular/Cell Biology, Genomics, Biochemistry, or related discipline with 1-4 years of hands on research experience in either an academic lab or industry setting

* Experience with mammalian cell culture assays (3D-cultures, primary cells, cell lines) and molecular biology (RNA isolation, RT-qPCR, molecular cloning, CRISPR and western blotting)

* Experience deploying fluorescence microscopy, immunohistochemistry and RNA in situ hybridization in primary cells and tissue sections is preferred

* The ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently, work independently, to communicate effectively, and attention to detail is critical

* Enjoys problem solving and is interested in learning and troubleshooting new techniques and experiments

* Passion for science and motivated to work on regenerative medicine


* Collaborate on multiple projects simultaneously and work as part of a cross-functional team

* Maintain and develop 3D organoid models, explant cultures and cell lines for drug discovery and mechanism of action studies

* Employ and optimize a diverse range of molecular, biochemical and genomics assays to test compound effects on biological pathways and cellular function

* Tissue profiling of biologically relevant models and clinical samples

* Analyze and interpret data, present findings in group presentations
