*Overview*

As a Research Associate II you will be working with the TCR Discovery team with one of our clients, a leading immune medicine biotechnology company in South San Francisco to perform and develop new assays that will fuel the discovery of clinically useful diagnostic and therapeutic candidates. You will design, implement and improve, with minimal supervision, a variety of cellular assays aimed at identification of T and B cell subsets, antigen-specificity, and effector function. You will play a critical role in cutting edge research into T Cell Receptor (TCR) sequences and their specificities, including collaborations with major partners like Microsoft and Genentech. You will also share accountability for coordinating general lab maintenance tasks such as ordering and preparing reagents, restocking lab consumables, and regular upkeep of lab equipment.

*Responsibilities*

* Work independently on routine processes and optimization and with minimal oversight for related projects

* Clearly and regularly communicate goals and results of related projects and tasks

* Design, perform, and optimize complex cellular assays (flow cytometry, T cell phenotyping and stimulation, etc.)

* Culture and maintain cell lines and PBMC for cell-based assays.

* Manage critical reagent inventories, including cells, media, cytokines, etc.

* Maintain detailed lab records, update shared records, and analyze data regularly.

* Coordinate day-to-day lab activities including equipment maintenance, reagent orders, restocking consumables, etc.

* Effectively work and communicate with group members and other groups in a dynamic and fast paced environment in order to accomplish goals.

*Qualifications*

Required:

* A bachelor's or master's in the Biological sciences

* At least two years of hands-on lab experience is required, some industry experience preferred.

* Experience with primary cell culture and aseptic technique

* Familiarity with BSL-2 protocols and best-practices

* Experience with handling human specimens (blood, etc.)

* Experience with multiparametric flow cytometry and FACS DIVA software

Preferred:

* Experience with FACS

* Scientific background in Immunology, Cancer Biology or related fields
