Summary

The Researcher VI will support our team in its mission to provide scientific information and decision support tools to aid natural resource managers from agencies (such as USFWS, NPS, and FWC). This position supports research on monitoring of ecosystems and control of invasive species. To better understand and predict population dynamics of wildlife matrix population models are being developed. Output generated by such models will be used to assess the relative effects of alternative management activities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

CNSS is looking for a Researcher to support our team in its mission to provide scientific information and decision support tools that may assist natural resource managers from natural resource management agencies (such as USFWS, NPS, and FWC). This position supports research on monitoring of ecosystems and control of invasive species. To better understand and predict population dynamics of wildlife matrix population models are being developed. Output generated by such models will be used to assess the relative effects of alternative management activities.

Tasks that are typical to this role include:
  • Review and interpretation of the scientific literature.
  • Data analyses and image processing.
  • Participate in meetings and collaborate as co-author with researchers.

Schedule and Deliverables
  • Monthly summaries describing and quantifying work accomplishments delivered to CNSS Program Manager and Site Lead with copies to Client Task Order Manager and COR.
  • Provide written assessments of data collected and analyses.

Supervisory/Management Authority
  • None

Education and/or Experience
  • MA (or recent PhD) and 2-5 years experience in a related field is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Skills in model development, analyses of various types of physical and biological monitoring data, and demonstrated ability to write scientific documents.
  • Ability to conduct research/development activities. Utilizes established mathematical and scientific techniques to compile and analyze data.
  • Writes technical reports detailing procedures, outcomes, and observations.
  • Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Ability to successfuly pass a background check and drug screen.

Work Environment
  • This is part-time position (roughly 10 hours per week)
  • Travel may be required to support program tasks
