Adjunct Instructor- Microbiology

Athens Technical College in Athens, Georgia seeks an Adjunct Instructor to teach for its Bioscience Program within the Life Science and Public Safety Division. The Adjunct Instructor is responsible for fulfilling both dual administrative and non-administrative (teaching) duties for the Bioscience Program.

The Microbiology course is designed to provide the student with foundation in basic microbiology with emphasis on infectious diseases. The curriculum covers the characteristics of pathogenic microorganisms along with considerations of epidemiology, chemotherapeutic agents, mechanisms of host defense and the host-parasite relationship. Topics include microbial diversity, microbial cell biology, microbial genetics, interactions and impact of microorganisms and humans, microorganisms and human disease. Laboratory exercises support lecture concepts.

The successful applicant will be expected to deliver course materials using appropriate techniques to provide students with the knowledge needed to achieve the stated learning outcomes for the course.

Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree in Bioscience field with a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in Microbiology related courses

Preferred Qualifications:

• Two (2) years prior teaching experience at the post-secondary level
• Ability to make presentations using advanced media technology and online learning applications
