SUMMARY

Nexamp is seeking a Federal Policy Director to join our Policy team and support ongoing federal policy and government affairs efforts in Washington D.C. before regulatory, legislative, and other external stakeholders. The Federal Policy Director will report to the Nexamp's Vice President of Policy to oversee Nexamp's federal policy engagement, and will work collaboratively with the broader policy, development, finance, and communications teams to advance outcomes that expand the national market opportunity and access to renewable energy for our customers. The Federal Policy Director will be responsible for researching, tracking, and managing a portfolio of federal policy issues impacting Nexamp's solar and storage development and deployment efforts.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Monitor and track federal legislative and regulatory policy developments impacting solar/storage development including labor, trade, energy, tax, and environmental policy
  • Consistently identify risks and opportunities presented by legislative and regulatory changes to federal policy and clearly communicate strategic considerations to senior leadership, relevant business units, and communications staff
  • Develop, maintain, and expand relationships with key staff at congressional, administrative and regulatory offices related to federal energy policy and related fields, as appropriate
  • Represent the company to advocate for policies favorable to Nexamp, specifically, and the clean energy industry more broadly before federal policymakers and other regional stakeholders
  • Participate in trade association meetings and network with industry colleagues to advance key policies favorable to industry interests
  • Work independently and on behalf of internal teams to develop policy positions, implement policy strategy, and identify new business opportunities
  • Educate internal business units about potential federal policy changes, and communicate feedback to key stakeholders on behalf of Nexamp
  • Support internal regional and state-level policy and business development leads to critically assess and evaluate the impacts of federal policy decisions and proposals
  • Lead and support briefings to inform policymakers and partners; present evidence for and advance favorable industry outcomes

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Commitment to Nexamp's mission and a passion for solving tomorrow's climate crisis today
  • Five years of federal public policy experience
  • Understanding of Congressional and Administrative (FERC, EPA, USTR) processes and procedures
  • Demonstrated record of working with trade associations, communications firms, or other advocacy organizations
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) and analytical skills
  • Comfortable learning quickly
  • Demonstrated ability to balancing competing priorities and manage multiple projects
  • Able to work in a collaborative environment
  • Relevant knowledge of issues impacting solar and storage industries
