Praxair Distribution, Inc. is seeking a Safety & Environmental Services Field Manager to join our team located in Tacoma, WA.

The Safety & Environmental Services Field Manager is responsible for providing direction, advice, and assessment to area management in safety, health, environmental, and related issues (i.e., regulatory policy and procedures, safety standards, and best practices) for compressed gases cylinder businesses.

  • Supports Health, Safety, and Environmental Field Support Team
  • Audits performance and compliance with policies, programs, and procedures
  • Development and review of proactive safety and health programs
  • Identifies new health and safety programs needs or changes to existing programs
  • Advises and represents Company during regulatory actions
  • Attends operations meetings to review health & safety concerns and issues
  • Conducts Safety Meetings on topics designed to promote an understanding of company policies, programs, procedures
  • Participates as a technical member on Health and Safety Committee, and assists in driving completion of meetings
  • Manages safety equipment inspection and testing programs, and maintain equipment
  • Inspects emergency plant safety equipment
  • Conducts site surveys to assure compliance with Corporate Health and Safety policies, programs, procedures and guidelines, and proper work practices needed to maintain a safe and healthful operation and work site
  • Completes health and safety surveys as assigned, and prepare reports on observations
  • Refers non-compliance conditions, uncooperative supervision, illness or accident trends to Regional Operations Director
  • Train new store/ plant managers on the location compliance file system, ACMS location work order system, safety for supervisor modules and other training related to regulatory agencies.
  • Train new employees on safety critical modules that pertain to specific job functions
  • Other duties as assigned


Job Requirements:
  • B.S. degree in Occupational Health and Safety or a closely related field preferred or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of progressive Health & Safety experience
  • Understanding of OSHA
  • Excellent knowledge of Federal and State health and safety regulations
  • Time management & the ability to work with little to no supervision
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • MS Office Suite experience required
  • Ability to work with individuals at all levels of the organization
  • Experiencing managing others is preferred
  • Willingness to travel 50%-75% (the majority will be day travel)
