Job Description
The In Vivo Pharmacology - Oncology group within the Department of Quantitative Biosciences is seeking a Senior Scientist with a strong background in cancer biology to join our Boston-based Exploratory Discovery team. The successful candidate will have a track record of innovative and collaborative research, demonstrated through peer-reviewed publications. The candidate will be able to work independently and proactively to collaborate with colleagues across multiple disciplines. The primary responsibilities will be to develop and characterize in vitro and in vivo novel clinically translatable human cancer models, to deliver insights into cancer biology, inform our therapeutic strategies and assist in the identification and validation of novel drug discovery programs for the next generation of cancer therapies.
Responsibilities:
- Establish robust 3D in vitro model systems from various human primary tumors and normal tissues.
- Establish novel in vivo patient derived cancer models using preclinical species.
- Characterize both in vitro and in vivo models by histology, multiplexed imaging, WES, RNAseq, and high dimensional flow cytometry.
- Establish genetic modification of organoids using CRISPR technology to understand target biological function.
- Contribute to the characterization and validation of novel compounds and/or therapeutic antibodies using in vitro, ex vivo and in vivo translational model systems.
- Communicate data clearly and concisely to the appropriate teams and stakeholders.
- Be able to thrive in a team environment.
Experience:
- Experience in the generation, maintenance, and biological characterization of in vitro 3D organoid culture.
- Experience with preclinical oncology animal models to further develop and characterize novel in vivo translational models.
- Experience with immunohistochemistry / image analysis, molecular biology, and flow cytometry.
- Strong background and experience in oncology and immuno-oncology.
- Demonstrated ability to function and communicate effectively in a multi-disciplinary environment and thrive in a team environment.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.
Education Requirements:
- BS/BA degree with a minimum 7 years of industry experience; or an MS degree with 4 years of industry experience; or a PhD in the field of cancer biology / immuno-oncology with post-doctoral experience.
