Environmental Scientist

Description:
Client needs an environmental scientist or engineer with 1 to 5 years experience to provide support a major project in DePue, IL. This is a full-time position for an individual with a strong technical background in the areas of removal assessment and removal/remedial action.
Work will include multi-media sampling, field audits and inspections, organizing and reviewing data, preparing reports, collection of air monitoring data, contractor oversight, and related services.
Candidates must live within commuting distance of this location. Applicants outside this area will not be considered. NO relocation funds.
Main Responsibilities:
Collect soil samples
Assist in drilling activities
Report site documentation
Conduct air sampling
Groundwater sampling
700+ residential properties need to be sampled for dangerous chemicals. Due to nature of work environment, these contractors will be payrolled through Populus Group.
Tetra Tech will be paying for individuals to get 24 or 40-HR HAZWOPER certs.
This assignment is slated to go until December 7th, shut down for the winter months, and resume work in early March. This will then go through 2019. Tetra Tech will work to find ways to keep this individual on assignment in the down months.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in environmental science, geology, environmental or civil engineering or related
40-hour OSHA cert (active) is highly preferred, will need it before starting the job
1-5 years of environmental consulting experience
1+ years of remediation project management, site investigations, site remediation, field sampling and air quality.
MUST HAVE valid drivers license
Experience working outdoors & working in a manual labor position; must be able to meet physical demands of the job
Strong written and oral communication
