* Duties Help Duties Summary About the Position: This is a Program Manager (Deputy Branch Chief), GS-0340-14 position with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Southwestern Division (SWD), Galveston TX, Programs & Project Management Division Project Management Branch. Learn more about this agency Responsibilities * Responsible for managing the efficient and effective coordination and accomplishment of the planning, scope, development, design, construction, and direction of all major projects. * Negotiates and integrates all assigned program requirements as appropriate in support of all projects into a comprehensive management plan. * Participates in programming decisions affecting long and short-range courses of action for assigned programs where Civil Works and IIS customers need this support. * Manages assigned program's budget and schedule, assuring that commitments to the sponsor/customer are met. * Develops performance standards, evaluates performance and plans and rate employees. * Initiates hiring actions and interviews candidates for Project Manager positions for assigned programs. * Prepares recommendations for supervisor's consideration in the development and dissemination of policy for both written and oral communication Travel Required Occasional travel - You may be expected to travel for this position 10 % of the time. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Managing all phases of a construction program/projects. AND 2) Utilizing qualitative and/or quantitative methods for the assessment of a program's effectiveness; AND 3) Advising leadership on project/program execution, funding allocations or objectives. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
