JEO Consulting Group seeks an Environmental Planner/NEPA Specialist in our Nebraska and Iowa offices to support long-range planning and management needs of natural areas that provide communities with valuable natural and cultural resources, as well as recreational and educational opportunities. This position is well-suited for a candidate who is passionate about serving the community and delivering high-quality plans and project deliverables. Applicants who possess any of the following specializations are encouraged to apply: urban planning and land use regulation; NEPA documentation; community building around diversity, equity, and inclusion; landscape architecture; engineering; horticulture; monitoring; facilitation and relationship building; watershed science; riparian ecology; and human dimensions in natural resources.

Responsibilities will include:
- Design, implement, and manage conservation projects
- Conducts public outreach and prepares written content, reports, social media, and presentations on environmental issues
- Serve on task forces and teams related to natural resources protection, sustainability issues, as well as diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts.
- Prepare memos, reports, and recommendations for community leadership.
- Collect and analyze data and survey results
- Contribute to data sets for planning and ongoing management
- May solicit, prepare, and administer grants
- Prepare NEPA documentation, wetland delineation reports, environmental permits, biological assessments, and other environmental compliance documentation
- Conduct literature research and data collection for environmental investigation and documentation
- Perform field work associated with the collection of natural resource data
- Perform complex assignments and make independent decisions on problems and methods
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in urban planning, planning, biology, wildlife management, natural resource management, landscape architecture, environmental sciences, or closely related field
- 3-5 years of relevant professional work experience. Work experience should include project management, planning, environmental studies, preparing NEPA documentation and environmental permit applications.
- Experience using ArcGIS to develop figures and perform basic analysis
- Applicants must be detail-oriented, organized, effective communicators, and team players with a strong focus on quality and client service.
Preferred Qualifications
- AICP Certification a plus, or
- Working knowledge of environmental regulations, including NEPA, Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act, Section 7 of the Endangered Species Act, and Section 404 of the Clean Water Act, among others
- Completion of a 40-hour basic wetland delineation training course, focused on application of the 1987 Corps of Engineers Wetland Delineation Manual
