Cadmus is a leading provider of climate and sustainability consulting services to local, state, and federal government clients, as well as companies, nonprofits, and foundations. Cadmus seeks a qualified Climate Modeling Senior Specialist to help lead quantitative work in our Sustainability & Energy practice. The role will support the firm's growth in climate change services with a focus on GHG emissions and climate planning for state and local governments.

The successful candidate will serve as a quantitative lead for the Sustainability & Energy practice at Cadmus, in charge of developing and executing on methodologies to support our clients with climate strategy development and execution. The successful candidate will also play a leading role in mentoring and training junior staff and supporting the management of the team. In addition to quantitative analysis, this role will also provide broad technical support across several projects related sustainability, greenhouse gas emissions reductions, and climate strategy development and implementation.

The successful candidate will bring training and experience developing renewable energy and climate mitigation projection models, greenhouse gas inventories, and adaptation/resiliency assessments. The candidate will be familiar with appropriate data sources, tools, and measurement techniques to:
  • Lead the development of greenhouse gas inventories for state and local governments, and other clients as needed

Model the impact of climate mitigation strategies
  • Analyze economic, and environmental co-benefits (using IMPLAN, Environmental Protection Agency tools, NREL tools, and/or other tools)
  • Conduct climate vulnerability/risk assessments (potentially using ArcGIS, or other tools) and develop climate projections
  • Effectively summarize quantitative findings in graphs, charts, and written reports to tell the client's story of or plan on climate action
  • Verbally present to and interact with clients

In addition to leading the execution of client work described above, the successful candidate will also contribute to business development, in particular by providing inputs to proposals related to the approach for quantitative tasks, as well as contributing to broader proposal development and client relationship building. This position will also involve coaching junior staff on climate modelling approaches.

Required Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor's Degree in a related discipline
  • Ability to lead quantitative modeling on greenhouse gas inventories and greenhouse gas mitigation efforts
  • At minimum, 8 years of industry related experience with a Bachelors degree; or 6 years of related experience with a Masters in sustainability, risk management, energy, and/or management consulting; experience should include an emphasis on quantitative modelling exercises.
  • Candidates should be passionate about sustainability, self-motivated and self-directed, collaborative, and able to produce high-quality work products.
  • Strong interpersonal, organization, and time management skills.
  • Excellent technical, analytical, writing, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a deadline-oriented and project-based environment on multiple projects at once.
  • Desire to take on new challenges and continued professional development.
  • Ability to collaborate remotely across geographies and sectors.
  • Limited travel post-COVID will be required.
  • Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States as a U.S Perm Resident or U.S. Citizen.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Advanced degrees in Business, Economics, Statistics, Public Policy, Sustainability, Climate Change, Risk Management, Engineering, Energy, or a related discipline;
  • Direct experience working in a consulting firm environment
