Mine Environmental Coordinator
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary responsibilities of this role, Mine Environmental Coordinator, are to:
- Be responsible for overseeing third party contractors while ensuring and completing QA/QC of environmental field work including sampling of multimedia such as surface water and ground water, overburden, soil, vegetation (for pre mining and post mining) at active, legacy and future mine sites;
- Be responsible for field investigations and inspections, specifically dams, fugitive dust, cover systems, seeps and Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) at active, legacy and future mine sites;
- Own environmental sampling program including responsibility for all sampling supplies, preparation, maintenance and purchases or rentals of all equipment;
- Be accountable for reviewing reporting documentation before submittal to government agencies including quarterly Point of Compliance (POC), semiannual and annual Water Resources Management Report (WRMR) and work plans;
- Be responsible for submitting quarterly Discharge Monitoring Reports (DMR's) and annual Multi Sector General Permit (MSGP) reports to EPA;
- Be accountable for maintaining and ensuring mine compliance with Quality Assurance Project Plan (QAPP) which ensures that reliable data is continuously collected and submitted;
- Be responsible for ensuring contractors are in compliance with safety guidelines, regulatory and company guidelines while on-site;
- Manage annual Stormwater Training for all mining employees and contractors to maintain compliance with MSGP;
- Be responsible for the creation of multiple site maps using ArcGIS, including annual operations maps and other requested maps from the mining group and plant;
- Manage all Stormwater discharged from sites in accordance with the MSGP;
- Oversee contractor selection processes for laboratory analysis (water, soil, vegetation, and rock), environmental field work and environmental database maintenance;
- Create and maintain annual sampling budget based on mine plans and sample forecasting;
- Manage full budgeting processing which includes invoice approval, processing and cost tracking, capital requests and working with contractors on budget reconciliation;
- Be accountable for ensuring that mine office and Enoch Valley office wells are in compliance with Public Water Systems (PWS) sampling requirements.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science or closely related field with at least three years of relevant work experience;
- Environmental Sampling Certification or successful completion of certification within first six months of employment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- ArcGIS systems familiarity;
- MSHA certified;
- Previous experience with BLM, IDEQ, USFS and EPA;
- EQUIS Environmental Database operator experience.
