Required

Ph.D. in Biological Sciences, strongly prefer broad training in Botany, Vertebrate Biology or Ecology, Microbiology, Genetics, or broad Biology or Ecology background. Candidates should have a strong interest in teaching excellence, as well as the desire to build a research program involving undergraduate and graduate students. ABD candidates will also be considered.

Primary Responsibilities

Positions may be 100% teaching with a requirement to teach 12 semester credit hours per semester or 75% teaching and 25% research with a requirement to teach 9 semester credit hours with negotiated conditions for research. Courses can include, but not be limited to: Biology for Majors I and II, Genetics, Cell Biology, Animal Behavior, Evolution and advanced courses in their specialty. Delivery of courses will be through face to face as well as distance delivery. Candidates are encouraged to establish an externally funded research program involving undergraduate and graduate students, as well as participate in professional development, and university and community service.

Responsible for personal safety and the safety of others; must exercise due caution and practice safe work habits at all times.

Position is Security Sensitive.

Other Information

We are looking for multiple Assistant Professor, Nine month tenure-track positions. In-person teaching is required. Multiple duty stations at the Alpine campus, and a minimum of 1 duty station at the Eagle Pass, Del Rio, or Uvalde campuses.

ABD candidates will be considered and can be hired as an instructor (tenure-track) until the terminal degree is received.

The Department of Biology, Geology, and Physical Sciences offers BS and MS degrees in biology, chemistry, and geology. The graduate programs in biology and geology enrolls approximately thirty students, primarily thesis seeking.
