Responsible for leading Lumentum's Global Environmental Program and working across organizational boundaries and multiple international sites to ensure the development and implementation of key critical initiatives, programs and practices targeted at improving compliance, and reducing environmental impacts for our global operations. In addition to driving strong compliance at the site and corporate levels, there will be a major focus on developing and driving a strategic roadmap to improve the company's GHG programs, data collection, accounting, forecasting, scope 1 & 2 reduction efforts, etc. as part of our ongoing drive to improve our environmental stewardship, being more sustainable, and increase our ability to meet and plan for ever rising regulatory, public and customer requirements. Effectiveness in this position will require creative leadership, passion for protecting the environment, strong technical expertise and knowledge, and influencing all levels of operational, EHS, CSR leadership to achieve related environmental goals. This will include planning and managing projects of varying size, scope and complexity and coordinating related environmental work across the global organization. ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: * Accelerate the reduction of GHG emissions and renewable energy initiatives via adoption of current best practices and standards, identification and execution of new technologies and identifying cost savings to highlight the business case for reductions and strong overall environmental stewardship. * Provide strategic oversight for decarbonization efforts and environmental efficiency programs by working across global manufacturing and facilities to align on GHG reduction targets, environmental initiatives and assisting organizations to develop detailed GHG emission reduction, renewable energy and environmental efficiency roadmaps. * Identify business priorities to scale carbon reduction and manage carbon targets with suppliers to help meet corporate and customer long range goals. * Drive adoption of leading environmental indicators and tracking to drive strategy and tactical improvement plans. * Develop, implement and support environmental management programs into business operations to ensure full compliance with applicable laws, regulations and customer requirements. This will include driving and supporting ISO 14001 certification at both site and corporate levels. * Implements strategies, systems and training to keep operations aware of and focused on environmental impacts and in compliance with environmental and related permits and regulations. * Periodically audits manufacturing operations, documents findings and assist the site to develops/implements compliance action plans. Similar audit of vendors, supplier, contractors maybe be needed as well. * Assures monthly, quarterly and annual environmental submittals (air, storm water, wastewater, waste management, etc.) are accurately developed, reviewed, and submitted timely * Remain current on regulatory developments that are applicable to environmental compliance at the local, state, and federal level and position the sites to manage the impacts. * Prepare annual budgets for environmental efforts and prepare estimates related to environmental activities that will be charged to other departments. * Mentors environmental professionals to drive personal ownership and accountability for success and succession planning including feedback on performance and opportunities. * Drive reviews of and provide environmental technical input on the design of factory, facilities and manufacturing processes. * 25% - 30% travel, worldwide. * REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: * Bachelor's degree in environmental engineering, environmental sciences, chemical engineering, sustainability or related degree with 10+ years of associated experience OR * Master's degree environmental engineering, environmental sciences, chemical engineering, sustainability or related degree with 7+ years of associated experience * 5+ years managing people in a technical, operational or engineering function * The ideal candidate will have significant experience and proven track record in managing global environmental programs across multiple sites in the semiconductor, electronics manufacturing, high tech environments, or petrochemical industries, etc. * Significant experience and track record driving GHG Accounting and Carbon Reduction initiatives * Strong knowledge of current environmental industry trends, regulations and reporting requirements * Strong project management skills, including planning, risk management, etc. * Excellent communication skills, including verbal, written, cloud meeting, and in person settings * Effective interpersonal skills, including proven abilities to listen, comprehend, effectively communicate clearly and concisely to obtain positive results * Proficient with MS Project, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, etc. * Persistent and able to work in a high intensity ever changing working environment. PREFERRED * Project management experience/certification. * Experience working with supply chain carbon reduction efforts. * Experience working with large customers to align program goals and efforts to leverage synergies. * EHS-related licenses, certifications and/or membership in environmental professional associations are desires, e.g., PE, CEA, ISO 14001 Lead Auditor, LEED Certifications, etc. * Experience with acquisitions and risk and liability management, environmental due diligence, etc.
