Primary Function:

This leader drives implementation of strategic and tactical plans targeted at understanding and communicating the environmental footprint of our end-to-end operations with a focus on manufacturing facilities. This position has primary responsibility for drafting the company response to the CDP disclosure.

Key Deliverables :
  • Direct all aspects of the company environmental sustainability programs, policies, and procedures to meet Ingredion's 2030, and beyond, sustainability goals and milestones in coordination with the Corporate Sustainability team
  • Develop standards, definitions, guidelines and tools to assist manufacturing sites and supply chain with collecting and reporting environmental data consistently and accurately
  • Drive improvements in environmental data reporting and accuracy by working with other company functions (e.g., IT, Finance, Accounts Payable, Supply Chain, Procurement, etc.) to streamline reporting and improve accuracy
  • Develop interactive tools and processes to parse data and calculate carbon emissions, water, wastewater and waste metrics for reporting internally and externally (CDP, customers and investors)
  • Support Corporate Sustainability in preparing responses to customer/investor requests
  • Develop and maintain interactive dashboards that can be accessed internally for tracking, trending and future planning
  • Update and maintain models to identify risk to the business due to climate change factors now and into the future
  • Track and inform on climate-related regulations in all jurisdictions in which we operate
  • Manage the environmental metrics module in the company EHSS database, including auditing the data and obtaining third-party verification
  • Participate in and/or lead corporate EHSS-MS audits (international travel required) as an environmental compliance subject matter expert.
  • Support a culture of continuous improvement with respect to environmental initiatives by working closely with the regional Environmental Managers, Plant Management teams, Corporate Sustainability, Commercial Excellence, Supply Chain and IT.
  • Benchmark external environmental sustainability programs and performance.
  • Partner with internal functions to enhance the customer experience by leveraging expertise in environmental affairs to deliver shared value.
  • Understand and be proactive on climate change developments and consumer trends affecting our operations
  • Strong people skills are critical to ensuring programs are understood, embraced and implemented
  • Must be able to work effectively across time zones and with diverse cultures
  • Partner and network with other Ingredion functions
  • Provide direction to company personnel to ensure understanding and awareness of responsibilities concerning environmental reporting and to support the development of a culture that promotes environmental excellence.
  • Provide expertise, guidance and coaching regarding environmental sustainability matters.

Knowledge, Skills, and Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Science degree required. A focus in environmental compliance and environmental sustainability preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience. Plant and corporate experience preferred
  • International experience a plus
  • Possesses depth and breadth of relevant functional capabilities, including carbon accounting practices and climate risk modelling
  • Recognized leader in the EHS and environmental sustainability fields
  • Continuous Improvement skills, such as Lean Six Sigma, a plus
  • Computer skills and ability to work with multiple systems
  • Experience working with outside regulatory agencies
  • Experience in environmental audits
  • Familiarity with Life Cycle Assessment tools and protocols
