Description

ABS Group Consulting Inc. is seeking an LNG and Alternate Fuels (L&AF) Marine Specialist to support the LNG and Alternate Fuels consulting business segment within the Marine and Offshore Division (MOF). This could be full time or contract leading to full time.

Job Description:

The [LNG & AF Marine Specialist (L&AF MS)] role is to provide support and assistance to ABS Group Consulting Inc. (ABSG) Marine and Offshore (MOF) division related projects. The L&AF MS will report to the Manager, LNG & AF Services. The role will include project development and execution support for MOF consulting activities. Support may comprise research, analysis, marketing, business development, proposal writing, presentations, reports, client relations, administrative, project management and other support functions related to L&AF marine shipping, terminals and plants, marine fuel, risk assessment, safety studies and other consulting work as directed by the Manager, LNG & AF Services.

Specific tasking and duties include, but may not be limited to:
  • Market research and business analysis in the fields of LNG & AF marine shipping, terminal and plants, FSRU / FLNG / FSU, small scale LNG &AF, LNG as marine fuel, training, process safety, risk management, procedures development, marine technology, GHG reduction, emissions control, environmental and other regulatory issues, data analysis, marine and offshore technology applications and other topics as directed.
  • Writing proposals for LNG & AF consulting projects according to internal and / or external work scopes
  • Support and assistance for the ABSG project development and set-up process, including time and labor budgeting, scheduling, project set-up forms, monitoring, data entry, reporting, client communications, contract compliance, invoicing, ad and other support functions according to ABSG project management procedures.
  • Client deliverables: Report writing, revision and review; manual and procedures writing, develop presentations, document management, client and prospect meeting assistance, client relationship management and other client support activities
  • Assist, manage and support ABS internal requests for consulting services related to marine and terminals LNG & AF projects.
  • Technical and content support for webinars, videos, online learning, client presentations, articles, white papers, research reports, blog posts, animations and other digital offerings for client service and marketing
  • Business development and marketing support, including developing and presenting marketing material, customer surveys, CRM analysis and reporting, competitive position, industry issues and challenges.
  • Attendance at and participation in conferences, seminars, working groups, panel discussions, industry events and promotional activities representing ABSG alone or as part of a team.
  • Additional support activities according to the direction of ABSG management, customer, and business prospect requirements
Qualifications
  • Engineering degree, marine, mechanical, chemical engineering or other similar degree is required. LNG & AF seagoing experience is desirable. 5 to 10 years of experience overall.
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of shipping industry and marine terminal systems, emphasizing L&AF carrier and storage, including propulsion, fuel supply, cargo handling / transfer, automation, gas and fire detection, fire extinguishing, mooring, stability, ballast water treatment, emissions control, pollution prevention, heat exchange, maintenance, security, hydraulics, dynamic positioning, performance optimization and advanced shipboard and marine systems, equipment and software
  • Fully conversant with global marine industry regulation, conventions, good practice, safety standards, guidelines and industry organizations (IMO, SOLAS, STCW, IGC, IGF, ISM, FSS, USCG, PHMSA, ISO, SIGTTO, OCIMF, ISGOTT, SGMF, NFPA, IEC, IMCA, OCIMF, PIANC, IAPH, ASTM, ASME, etc.)
  • Business degree (preferred) or technical certification in business, engineering, technology, project management or similar
  • Adept with all business software and digital technologies
  • Knowledgeable about marine industry and shipping business, including ship owners, operators, trades, trends, challenges.
  • Membership and participation in marine professional organizations (Propeller Club, Nautical Institute, SNAME, etc.)
  • Experience working outside of the US (English plus another language desired)
