Job Description:

Environmental Specialist

Huntsman's Performance Products Division is now searching for a new Environmental Specialist who will work closely with the environmental, operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to maintain air quality and hazardous waste management permitting and compliance for a petrochemical facility within Huntsman's performance products division. The individual will apply regulatory knowledge, technical skills, as well as site specific requirements to determine compliance with regulations and permit conditions, report potential deviations, maintain site and corporate metrics, and prepare associated reports as required by permits or regulations. This role is an active, full member of the Environmental team, located in Conroe, Texas.

As the Environmental Specialist, you will:
  • Interpret permit requirements and regulations and identify sound solutions across air and waste. Strong knowledge of NSPS, MON, HON, MACT, RCRA, SARA 313, and Title V regulations.
  • Serve as a technical resource for air and hazardous waste permit applications or amendments, Title V compliance reporting, estimating emissions, and regulatory compliance analyses. Acquire relevant environmental release event data for recordkeeping and reporting.
  • Develop environmental reports to governmental agencies as required by law and/or permit including Emissions Inventories (EI), Toxic Release Inventory (TRI), Annual Waste Summary (AWS), and Tier II reports.
  • Support handling and disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous wastes. Oversee waste shipment sampling, profiling, scheduling, and tracking, monitoring and inspections, and other testing programs as needed and to demonstrate compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Serve as an environmental resource to operations personnel and process engineers during management of change (MOC), process hazard analysis (PHA), pre-startup safety reviews (PSSRs), and incident investigations.
  • Act as an environmental expert during third party and/or regulatory records requests and audits.
  • Manage external vendors and consultants including coordination and scheduling, budget tracking, invoice review, and approvals.


Skills and experiences required:
  • Bachelor's in Environmental, Engineering, or Science with 5 + years of experience
  • Must have a level of proficiency with Internet, Email, and Microsoft programs
  • A thorough knowledge of Texas and Federal environmental regulatory programs
  • Must have Air and Waste environmental permit experience
  • Experience working in a chemical manufacturing facility preferred
  • Specific knowledge of web-based agency reporting systems (example: TCEQ's STEERS)
  • Experience utilizing corporate management systems including Aspen Process Explorer, KMS, and/or Reg Action.
  • Ability to plan and organize tasks to consistently produce results, with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to function efficiently in a multi-disciplined, cross-functional environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact with multiple layers of the organizations.
