Biological Lab Technician

Title: Lab Technician-Biological
Location: Salisbury, MD

Shift Hours: 8am - 5pm - Mon - Fri
Salary: $14.50/hr
Employment Type: 6-month Contract (Benefits Available)

The company's products and services include active pharmaceutical ingredients (API), stem cell therapies, drinking water sanitizers, vitamin B compounds, organic personal care ingredients, industrial preservatives, and microbial control solution to combat viruses, bacteria and other dangerous pathogens.

Primary Role Responsibilities:
  • Assist with the horseshoe crab blood collection process per approved SOP's; Includes setting-up and preparing the collection area, cleaning, and preparing crabs, aseptically collecting blood, and cleaning and disinfecting the area at the end of the day.
  • Assist in crab blood processing per approved SOP's; Includes all Processing lab assignments - centrifuging, pipetting, sonication, solution preparation, and cleaning and disinfecting the area at the end of the day.
  • Aseptically handle filled and unfilled collection bottles in and out of bio-safety cabinets (hoods).
  • Timely and accurate completion of all required paperwork entries per SOP's.
  • Clean and maintain production equipment.
  • Tag crabs with US Fish & Wildlife tags.

Skill and/or Education Requirements:
  • BS in Life Sciences or equivalent is desirable or AA in Biological Sciences and 1-2 years' experience in a production environment or HS and 3-5 years' experience in a production environment.
  • Able to follow written procedures and carry out those procedures to completeness.
  • Organization skills, time management skills, excellent attendance.
  • Written and oral communication skills.
  • Teamwork - willing to work closely with others to meet departmental objectives.
  • Math skills and computer skills.

Working Conditions:
  • Working conditions vary from laboratory environment to crab holding areas.
  • Some overtime work will be required.
  • May require long periods of standing, heavy lifting, (up to 50 lbs), repetitive motions and chemical hazards.

Job Requirements:
  • Resolve systems and network related issues
  • Identify network versus headend issues
  • Operate enterprise monitoring systems including, network, security and performance monitoring systems
  • Provide technical support for operations environment
  • Open and work network cases
  • Provide testing and implementation support of new software releases for deployed network equipment
  • Assist, report, or resolve system related or network issues
  • Troubleshoot a variety of information and network systems
  • Use software and hardware tools to identify and diagnose network status and problems; conduct complex network monitoring equipment installation and maintenance activities
  • Assist with monitoring, overflow
  • Answering basic questions on common network related issues
  • Assist in network support, maintenance, and upgrade projects
  • Create and maintain network documentation
  • Troubleshoot/isolate network issues and coordinate problem resolution
  • Perform basic system operations tasks of monitoring and resolving schedule and job issues as occur as well as server and network monitoring tasks
  • Maintain, upgrades or replace hardware and software systems
  • Install hardware associated with powering up equipment
  • Provide 24/7/365 network and system support and monitoring the data center
  • Use troubleshooting skills to resolve both routine and complex network, computer hardware, and connectivity issues
  • Assisting with the day to day maintenance and operations of a data center
